Chery Expands Global Footprint with New Factory in Algeria

Chinese automaker Chery Automobile announced in June 2025 the establishment of a new manufacturing plant in Algeria, marking another milestone in its global expansion strategy. The new facility demonstrates Chery’s commitment to serving the North African market through localized production and advanced automotive technology.

Located in Tiaret Province, the factory is designed to support both assembly and production of popular Chery models, including SUVs and compact cars tailored to local market needs. The project is expected to create over 3,000 direct and indirect jobs, boost Algeria’s industrial capabilities, and strengthen the country’s automotive supply chain.

Chery stated that the plant will integrate modern manufacturing technologies with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability. The company also plans to gradually increase the use of locally sourced components to support Algeria’s industrialization goals.

With this investment, Chery aims to expand its presence in Africa and the Middle East, regions with rapidly growing automotive demand. The Algerian plant will not only serve the domestic market but also function as an export hub for neighboring countries.

According to company representatives, this initiative aligns with Chery’s vision of becoming a globally competitive and environmentally responsible brand. It also reflects the deepening economic cooperation between China and Algeria, particularly in industry and technology.

Through this strategic investment, Chery continues to strengthen the foundation of its “Globalization 2.0” strategy—combining world-class innovation with local development to deliver high-quality mobility solutions worldwide.
